Cobra Kai season 6: Karate’s Bad Boy Returns

Karate’s Bad Boy is back — and he’s about to put the kids of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang through a boot camp from hell. In this exclusive clip from Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai Season 6’, Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), the villain-turned-furniture maker from ‘The Karate Kid Part III’, reunites with frenemies Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). The last time we saw Barnes, he was stealing a Rembrandt from Cobra Kai big bad Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), who burned down his furniture shop in Season 5.

Now, Barnes is helping Daniel and Johnny pick the students who will fight for them in the prestigious (yet unnamed) dojo at the Sekai Taikai tournament in ‘Cobra Kai Season 6’.

A New Challenge for the Dojos

Kanan explains, “Johnny and Daniel are at odds over what to name the dojo and who should represent it in the Sekai Taikai.” Daniel comes up with the idea that they need someone who appears neutral. The big reveal is that Mike Barnes has been brought in to select the team. Watch the full clip above to get a sneak peek of ‘Cobra Kai Season 6’.

Kanan, who reprised his role in Season 5, says he has been in touch with executive producers Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg since then. “They kept saying, ‘We’re working on new scripts. We’d love to see Barnes again,’” he recalls. The ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ star added that he was very open about his desire to return to *Cobra Kai* in some capacity. “When I would do interviews and stuff, I kept saying, ‘Who better to train these kids than Mike Barnes, the national champion?’” he says. “I was planting seeds as much as I could, and it paid off in ‘Cobra Kai Season 6’.”

High Stakes for Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang

This is good news for fans, but not so much for Robby (Tanner Buchanan), Sam (Mary Mouser), Tory (Peyton List), Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo), Hawk (Jacob Bertrand), and all the other Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang hopefuls competing for a spot in the Sekai Taikai under Barnes’ watchful (and ruthless) eyes. “Barnes makes it very clear that it’s a baptism by fire for the one strong enough to make it through his set tests,” Kanan explains. “He has some out-of-the-box thinking.” This season will truly test the resilience and skill of the students, making ‘Cobra Kai Season 6’ one of the most intense seasons yet.

Behind the Scenes Challenges

The actor admitted he faced his own test during the scene shot in Daniel LaRusso’s backyard—but it had nothing to do with executing a flawless front kick. “The biggest challenge of the entire speech was that everyone had to be on the same page about how to pronounce Sekai Taikai,” he says, laughing. “We all had to go, ‘Okay, how do you actually say it?’”

So, what was the verdict? Kanan says, “I was told it’s say-kai tie-kai. That was the hardest line to remember.” This attention to detail is just one of the many aspects that make ‘Cobra Kai Season 6’ so engaging.

Conclusion

‘Cobra Kai Season 6’ premieres Thursday, July 18 on Netflix. Don’t miss out on what promises to be an intense and thrilling season filled with surprises, challenges, and, of course, some epic karate battles. With Mike Barnes back in the mix, the stakes have never been higher for Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang. ‘Cobra Kai Season 6’ is set to deliver all the drama and action fans love.
